Chazz Hesselein asked about birdwatching during the ESA meeting in Reno this year.

  • Chazz et al. -- after the last meeting, several of us went to the Ruby Mountains, about 3 h east of Reno.  Beautiful area; fairly birdy.  Apparently winter is not ideal to find Himalayan Snowcock and we did not see it.  Still, worth the few days.  I am going a few days early this year, but headed to Sacramento and nearby for a few days of birding there.

  • I'm planning on driving over from Fresno on Friday before the meetings and doing some birding on Saturday. Anyone care to join me?
    • I'll be flying from West Virginia on Friday and we'll be in Reno by Saturday but have to be at the Collections Network meeting good part of the day. Were you planing to bird around the hotels/convention center areas?

I noticed there's a Lake near the Peppermill Hotel and I was thinking about checking that out when I had a break.

Please let me know what kind of plans you have to see if I can join you.
