Don’t miss the
Women in Science Breaking the Bias Habit Workshop/ Reception

Tuesday, November 17, 2015: 2:00 PM-5:00 PM,
Minneapolis Convention Center, 102 A-F
Registration required*

This special workshop will address critical issues facing women scientists and provide opportunities to promote women in science and in the Societies. It is a unique opportunity for students to network with established scientists and the Societies’ leadership.  The program includes a keynote speaker with an interactive presentation on “Breaking the Bias Habit to Promote Gender Equity” and will include exercises to illustrate the existence of unconscious or implicit gender biases, show how these biases may play out in work settings, and provide evidence-based strategies that can be used to minimize their impact.  It is suggested that participants complete an “Implicit Association Test” prior to the workshop at http://wiseli.engr.wisc.edu/leaderiat.php.

*Not registered yet?  Sign up at either the ASA-CSSA-SSSA or ESA registration desk or log in to add this workshop to your schedule https://online.entsoc.org/esassa/ssaauthmain.login_page at $10 for students and $25 for non-students.

I have put this in the discussion section, rather than as an announcement/comment only so that people can add their impressions, comments, etc. after attending. Note too that even if you don't get a chance before the workshop to complete the Implicit Association Test, don't let that stop you from registering and attending this event!  Hope to see you there!
