Editors Needed for Journal of Insect Science

The following is posted on behalf of Phyllis Weintraub:

Hello to All Women Entomologists,

I was recently appointed as the Editor in Chief for the Journal of Insect Science.   My list of subject editors is disproportionately biased towards men and I’d like to rectify that somewhat.  If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved, now’s your chance.

The role of subject editor involves more decision making than editing and in a sense, less actual reviewing – you just have to decide if the reviewers you’ve chosen have given fair and complete reviews, and then decide on the outcome of the manuscript.  I am looking for mid-career women with good organizational skills.  While this doesn’t require hours of work, it does require consistency and a periodic investment of time with the initial reading of a manuscript and looking for reviewers.

If you are interested, please let me know what subject areas you feel competent to cover, send me a short CV and a list of recent publications.  At the moment I am especially looking for someone to cover molecular aspects of toxicology/insecticide resistance/detoxification.

I look forward to hearing from qualified women.
