Although based on experimental evidence rather than real hirings, this new study, published online in PNAS and summarized in the AAAS ScienceInsider article "Women best men in STEM faculty study" shows that the pendulum for hiring women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in academia may finally be swinging the other way. This may mean that some of the training in implicit/unconscious bias is having an impact in helping people of both genders recognize assumptions that they may make, given equally qualified candidates for a job.
