ESA Networks: How-To's

Sign Up

  • Go to https://esanetworks.org/
  • Click "Sign Up" in the upper right
  • Enter your email, select a password, fill out the brief signup form and click "Create Account"

Note: The ESA Networks site is not connected to the Entomological Society of America membership database. If you are an ESA member and have not previously signed up on the ESA Networks site, you will need to create an account. Non-members interested in insect science are also welcome to join and participate in the ESA Networks.

Change Your Email Address, Password, and Display Name

  • Click "My Page" in the main navigation menu at the top of any ESA Networks page
  • Click the "Options" drop-down button in the upper right, below your cover photo
  • Select "Edit Profile"
  • Click "Change" next to your email address or password, or edit your name in the name field

Edit Your Profile Photo and Cover Photo

  • Click "My Page" in the main navigation menu at the top of any ESA Networks page
  • Click the "Options" drop-down button in the upper right, below your cover photo
  • Select from the options in the drop-down menu

Edit Your Email Notification Settings

  • Click "My Page" in the main navigation menu at the top of any ESA Networks page
  • Click the "Options" drop-down button in the upper right, below your cover photo
  • Select "Edit Profile"
  • Click the "Email" tab
  • Select your preferences from the options provided

Join a Group

  • Click "Groups" in the main navigation menu at the top of any ESA Networks page
  • Click the Group you want to join
  • Click the "Join Us!" button

Create a Group

  • Click "Groups" in the main navigation menu at the top of any ESA Networks page
  • Click the orange plus symbol (+) button in the top right to create a group
  • On the next page, enter your group name, description, logo, and access and visibility settings.
  • Click "Create"
  • Your new group will be reviewed and approved by ESA staff
  • Once approved, the new group will appear on the ESA Networks site

Invite People to a Group

  • On the home page for your group, click the "Options" drop-down button in the upper right
  • Select "Invite" (If you do not see "Invite" as an option, the group administrator does not allow group members to invite new members
  • Enter an email address and invitation message, and click "Send"
    • To enter multiple email addresses, type an email address and then press Tab or type a comma to enter the address and begin a new one

Post Replies and New Discussions in the Forum

  • Click "Forum" in the main navigation menu at the top of any ESA Networks page
  • To start a new discussion, click the orange plus symbol (+) button in the top right; submit your post on the next page
  • To reply to a discussion, click the discussion title or "Read more" below the post; submit your reply on the next page
